The best
way to explain is with an example. In January 2005 a new client reported the
following for 2004, a deficit of 4.2 % of revenue and a
salary for the owner of 5.1% of revenue. In only three years the
recorded data showed a revenue compared to 2004 of a 151 %,
compared to 2008 revenue, a net profit of 12.9% and a
salary for the owner of 8.3%.
How did he do this?
He
employed the Abasia Point evaluation process to help him examine
his operations and conduct a physical evaluation of his company
and its processes. Created by Dr. John Stolk for the Executive
Counsellors Guild, the evaluation revealed a myriad of
opportunities for efficiencies, identified waste, and placed
control of the organization back into the hands where it
belonged.
When you
undergo your annual physical examination, your doctor examines
all of vital parts of your body and compares it to the norm. He
then identifies areas of concern and recommends action designed
to reverse negative findings and strengthen positive findings.
Similarly, each business owner should also conduct an annual
physical examination of his business to determine the overall
health of the organization and compare it to desired and actual
outcomes. The Business Physical covers over 200 items that
effect the bottom line.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, 8 out of 10
businesses fail within three years. Research further reveals
that 43% of business plans in companies that fail are used as a
vehicle to secure business loans, but not for actually running
the company. As a result, opportunities for greater revenue,
lower costs and increased profits are being lost unnecessarily.
