How does a Business Physical work?

The Business Physical™ study begins with a physical analysis of an organization’s business from both financial and non-financial perspectives.  The exam considers all critical organizational systems and measures the status of the company’s operational efficiency, threats to that efficiency, and opportunities to improve the overall health of the company.  It includes, but is not limited to, financial evaluation of key metrics, breakeven analysis, and comparative returns on effectiveness per line item. It further examines non-financial issues such as relationships between the company and its employees, vendors, competitors, and government overseers.  From this analysis, strategies can then be developed and decisions can be made that will improve the performance metrics deemed important to the owners.

Step One

The Business Physical study is step one in the process. It can best be described as a X-ray of your business which will clearly define the issues at hand. Step one is split into the collection phase, analysis phase, and delivery phase.

The Data Collection Phase – During this phase, data is collected onsite.  Interviews are conducted with the owner(s) and or management and key people. This phase is specifically designed to capture the unique operational, strategic, and management components of the business, as well as on-site inspection.

Concurrently, a confidential comprehensive financial review of the company is conducted. This review will create projections of the business and identify key indicators of effective and ineffective business strategies.  This study is designed to minimize the interference with the operation of the business.

The Analysis Phase – This phase focuses on analyzing the data collected from all sources and synthesizing the data into a detailed summary.  It is an in-depth S.W.O.T analysis that provides statistical and objective observations of the data.  Areas are pinpointed where improvements can and should be made.  Discussions are generated resulting in strategies designed to move the results in the right direction and with the right speed.

The Delivery Phase – This phase presents the analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data collected, observations of the business and its processes, and recommendation to the owner(s) on how to achieve improved performance metrics.  It provides statistical estimates of the increased profitability and other performance metrics of the business as a result of taking the recommended corrective actions.

Business owners find this meeting to be eye opening.  Strategies focusing on potential savings, improved operating efficiencies, revenue enhancement, and greater control over the business are articulated from the Abasia Point evaluation process.  For example, one client improved his cash emphasis position and was able to take the additional funds and invest them into an improved inventory control system.

Step 2: Custom Corrections Sessions

As companies grow in size, so do the complexities of running an expanding business.  The Guild provides a Custom Corrections Sessions service that typically involves several intense counseling sessions lasting a few hours each. In these sessions, the Guild executive works directly with the owner to target particular areas of deficiency identified in the analysis report. The Guild executive becomes a guide in the process, helping you to discover the potential hidden within your business.

Step 3: Long Term Support

After completing your Custom Corrections Sessions a self-audit checklist is generated. This ensures that you stay focused on perpetuating the changes you have made in your business. In conjunction with the self-monitoring process guild consultants arrange for two phone counseling sessions per month, each lasting about an hour, between you and your business counselor. This tweaks the processes you have put in place at your business.

However, it is at this point that the Guild executives step back and allow the business owners to develop and monitor their own self-sufficiency.  Yet the Executive Counsellors Guild remains just a phone call away and is eager to provide additional problem-solving assistance.

While we do not require a long-term contract for our services, our clients find these sessions extremely useful in managing their businesses, and tend to continue their support calls for months or years after their Custom Corrections Sessions.

Much of our methodology involves partnering with other experts to deliver specialized services to our clients.
